New Year’s Eve-Eve 2024 was a good day! A passing storm sent us some solid south swell and by the afternoon, conditions lined up just right.

I spent about an hour driving up and down the coast looking for the perfect sandbar but wasn’t sold on anything—until I got a call from Evan Zodl. He was watching a perfect, empty righthand barrel break consistently just north of where I was! Needless to say, I gunned it and met up with him.

The ripping northerly current made it a challenging session. It was tough to stay in the right spot long enough, but with some patience and effort everyone caught a few gems. I didn’t make it out of the barrel in this photo, but it was still a nice tube! Check Instagram to see my best barrel from the session.
